About the Position

Summary

We are looking for a Regional Philanthropy Officer who will meet fundraising goals and objectives and connect with our donors to serve our mission.  In this role, you will identify, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective regional donors in expanding their financial support of the work of the American Red Cross.  The incumbent is responsible for managing individual donor and family foundation relationships in the western Michigan area.

Working Conditions

This is a hybrid work position which includes a mix of virtual and in-office work.  The position also requires frequent travel for face-to-face meetings with donors, staff and other constituents.

Job Duties

Develop and execute ongoing regional strategy for qualifying donors to ensure retention, growth of donor contributions, as well as recapture from previous donors.  Work collaboratively with other departments and fundraising staff to create customized solicitation strategies matching the objectives of the organization and the interests of the donor/prospect.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $5,000 level or higher, with an emphasis on maximizing revenue for the American Red Cross.

Monitor fundraising performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed to achieve targets.

Be at the forefront of Disaster Relief Fundraising to drive immediate impact to help donors support urgent Red Cross needs.

Maintain Salesforce donor records regularly and consistently.

Assist donors in creating meaning in their lives by giving to the American Red Cross.

Participate in community engagement, events and administrative tasks as instructed by the Chief Development Officer.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree highly desirable.

Minimum 5 years of sales and/or fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Proven experience in developing strategies for donor retention growth and recapture and proven success with complex requests is required.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.  Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.  Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce.com).  Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.

A current valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.

Travel: Frequent travel within the Region required.  Occasional travel to divisional meetings.

* Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).

Salary Range

$77,000 – 80,000, You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance.
