Family Promise is seeking a passionate, committed leader to use their experience, vision, and connections to launch and lead the new FP of Kalamazoo affiliate. Family Promise is the national leader in preventing and ending family homelessness. As the Executive Director, you will work with community leaders, the faith community, donors, and nonprofit partners to have a significant impact on family homelessness and the affordable housing crisis. You will be effective at communicating the urgency of our mission and the success of our programs. You will serve a key role in advancing our core values, including diversity, equality, inclusion, and accessibility.

This is a new position in a start-up organization. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of this affiliate to ensure the organization is high-performing and has the necessary resources to deliver on its mission. This position will excel at maintaining positive relations with partner entities, stakeholders, investors/ donors, board members, Family Promise national staff and media outlets. Simultaneously, the ED will have great business acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for our mission, and a strong belief that homelessness can be rare, brief, and not marked by trauma.

Job Duties

Leadership and Management
• Provide leadership, inspiration, vision, and implementation of the strategic plan for the organization to all staff, volunteers, guests, Congregational partners, and donors.
• Drive a strong and successful culture throughout the organization, including professional development for staff.
• Be on-call for emergencies during off-hours as scheduled. Oversee on-call scheduling.
• Committed to ensuring equitable, inclusive, culturally competent, and trauma informed services and staff environment.
• Maintain a standard of programmatic excellence, program management, delivery and evaluation elements to ensure best practices are deployed a
• Build a Board of Directors and its various committees to execute organizational goals and support recruitment of new members.

Financial Management and Fundraising
• A priority area of this role is to continue building the resources to support FP of Kalamazoo.
• In collaboration with the national office, ensure that expenses are satisfied and financial objectives are obtained.
• Pursue appropriate funding opportunities: grants, individual/congregation donations, corporate giving, and special events.
• Manage the budget, including cash flow and reserves.

Community Relations
• Manage community relations and strategic partnerships as well as all PR and marketing for the organization.
• Increase positive awareness for FP of Kalamazoo.
• Build relationships with and regularly communicate with supporting agencies.
• Actively participate in providers’ groups and other forums.
• Maintain positive relationships with community partners and recruit new partners
• Ensure volunteers are trained according to Family Promise standards
• Ensure Affiliate updates are communicated to community partners and feedback is solicited from the partner network.
• Create partnerships in the community that will facilitate positive outcomes for FP case management (landlords, employers, nonprofit partnerships, etc.)

Requirements

• Master’s degree in business, non-profit administration, public administration (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of prior organizational-level executive leadership experience required.
• Outstanding organizational, analytical, prioritization, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong skills in financial strategy and management.
• Excellence in managing strategic relationships and experience in managing the political environment and interests of the broader community.
• Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
• Past success working with a board of directors – ability to cultivate board relationships .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
• The ability to think creatively and entrepreneurially. This is a new position at a start-up organization. It is essential to manage multiple priorities, and work with ambiguity.

Salary Range

$120K-$150K
