About the Position

Summary

We are currently seeking a full-time Donor Relations Specialist to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding businesses and corporate partners to further the mission of Habitat. This position is part of the Resource Development team and works closely with Volunteer Services and Gift in Kind to ensure business and corporate partners are engaged on many levels. The Donor Relations Specialist coordinates the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts through strategic communications, mission-driven donor experiences, and relationship building.

Job Duties

Create strategy and direction for growing the corporate giving program, which includes a portfolio of corporate donors, with direction and approval of Vice President and Director of Development.
Oversee the cultivation and stewardship of corporate donors for projects and campaigns.
Build and steward individual relationships with business owners.
Research and implement opportunities for third-party fundraising with corporate partners.
Support corporate grants and proposal writing, including grant reporting.
Work closely with volunteer services to coordinate volunteer days for corporate donors and build new relationships with corporate volunteer groups to grow the corporate donor portfolio.
Oversee relationships with corporations to engage volunteers and facilitate relationships.
Visit volunteer work sites to network and personally thank corporate partners and invite corporate volunteers to engage further with the mission beyond volunteer experience.
Support Gift-In-Kind solicitation.
Support home sales through corporate connections.
Contribute to stewardship reports and materials with the Communications team.
Work with the Communications team to develop communications pieces for corporate audiences.
Work with the Communications Specialist to develop and support volunteer engagement and giving goals for corporate partners.
Update the donor database regarding donor interactions, communications, and plans.
Work with the Resource Development Team to help facilitate stewardship opportunities for corporate partners and plan the annual donor impact party.
Maintain timely and accurate records of donor relationships and activities for all corporate partnerships in the CRM database.
Provide weekly and monthly reports demonstrating gifts committed, pending, and planned.
Promote the mission, vision, and values of Habitat for Humanity of Kent County and Northern Muskegon Counties.
Attend home dedications and ground-breaking ceremonies, as able.
Receive and maintain professional development training necessary to fulfill the minimum standards of the essential responsibilities, including annual training dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture, enhancing intercultural competencies, and promoting fairness and belonging for all individuals.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred; or a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to maintain high-level donor stewardship will be considered.
Sense of urgency, collaborative team style, and ability to quickly adapt to changes in priorities with strong decision-making skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks for timely project completions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hard worker with strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a broad array of people.
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and donor database systems.
Excellent public speaking skills.
Flexible schedule with availability some nights and weekends.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority.

Salary Range

Pay range: $70,000 – $80,000
