About the Position
Summary
Manage and expand a portfolio of mid-level and major donors in an assigned geographic region.
Job Duties
The Development Partner is responsible for managing a portfolio of current and prospective donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities to advance the mission of Right to Life of Michigan (RLM). This role drives donor retention and upgrades, conducts personalized outreach (phone, email, in-person/virtual visits), and collaborates with the Office of Development on targeted appeals and communications. The Partner also delivers fundraising presentations at 25+ Affiliate events annually across West and Northern Michigan, including the Upper Peninsula.
1. Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of mid-level ($1,000–$9,999) and major ($10,000+) donors.
· Track meaningful contacts (phone calls, emails, personalized letters, video calls, personal visits).
· Identify upgrade opportunities and secure renewed/increased gifts year-round.
· Collaborate on targeted appeals, campaigns, and special initiatives.
· Provide timely, personalized gift acknowledgments (thank-you calls, notes, impact updates).
· Maintain accurate CRM records of all donor interactions.
2. Partner with Field Staff to support and present at 25+ Affiliate events in West and Northern Michigan.
· Willingness to travel (daytime, evenings, occasional overnights) is essential.
· Leverage events to engage current and lapsed donors; extend personal invitations to encourage attendance.
· Provide affiliates with development support for fundraising or special events, and also deliver training sessions as needed.
3. Meet regularly with the Director of Development and the team to discuss the portfolio and upcoming events.
· Discuss reports and insights on giving trends.
· Review progress toward monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
4. Participate in RLM staff meetings and planning sessions as well as regional events for members, volunteers, and donors.
5. Other reasonably related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
1. Remote work is eligible, but must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the assigned region.
2. Comfortable working with members and donors via phone, email, and in-person/virtual meetings.
3. Proven ability to juggle priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively.
4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
5. Prior fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-management experience preferred.
