The Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports the students of Grand Rapids Public Schools.  We believe that every child has the potential to learn, grow and succeed and envision a day where there are no barriers to any child in GRPS reaching his or her full potential.  The Student Advancement Foundation raises financial and other resources to provide tools and opportunities to the students of GRPS and connects community partners to the Grand Rapids Public Schools.   

Job Duties

The Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation is looking for a new Executive Director who can balance the internal management responsibilities with the external visibility that is vital to achieving the strategic goals of the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation. The Executive Director will translate vision into strategies and actionable objectives across all segments of the organization ensuring the long- term impact, growth and sustainability of Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation.

General Responsibilities

The Executive Director provides leadership, strategy and direction toward the achievement of the Grand Rapids Student Advancement Foundation mission, values, goals and objectives by working with the Board of Directors and acting as liaison between the Board, Grand Rapids Public Schools and staff employees. This position requires high-level collaboration, influencing and communications skills to achieve high performance.  In addition to driving fund development initiatives and controlling expenses, the Executive Director is expected to participate in and provide leadership across the organization, while improving our capabilities and performance with all constituencies. Candidates should have experience or a demonstrated passion for working with diverse communities, an appreciation for advancing educational resources, and community engagement.

Requirements

  •         Bachelor’s degree specializing in Nonprofit Administration, Business, or Communications or equivalent work experience.
  •         Five (5) or more years of experience in nonprofit management, with proven experience working with a board of directors and a wide range of diverse stakeholders.
  •         Five (5) or more years of experience in fund development, with experience in high-level strategy development including annual fund, major gifts donors, writing and stewarding grants, and fostering community stakeholder relationships.
  •         CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) Certification a plus.
