About the Position

The position is a unique part-time opportunity to supervise and develop up to 30 current Hope students as they make engagement and fundraising calls to Hope alumni, parents, and friends.Will be responsible for the operation of engagement center program services, activities, goal tracking and planning, and budget management and work closely with the Annual Philanthropy Intern.

Department: Philanthropy & Engagement.

Reports to:  Director of Annual Philanthropy.

Notes:  This position will average 20-25 hours per week year-round. This position is not benefit eligible, but does enjoy a flexible work schedule, and has most holidays off and two weeks at the end of the year. This position is an hourly position. Compensation to commensurate with experience.

Job Duties

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the telephone engagement program for the office of Philanthropy and Engagement.
  • Interview, hire and train a pool of approximately 28 student callers and one intern.
  • Work with the Director of Annual Philanthropy and the Communication Specialist to develop strategies, calling scripts and caller training materials.
  • Set goals for the number of pledges and dollar amounts to be raised for each shift and motivate callers to remain focused.
  • Keep informed of campus activities and issues and make callers aware of, and prepared for, any questions they may encounter from constituents.
  • Monitor calls to ensure quality and coach students on improving their communication skills. ·      Evaluate callers on an ongoing basis and schedule at least one formal evaluation session with each caller per semester.
  • Work with an intern to schedule calling shifts, ensure accuracy of timecards and maintain caller statistic reports.
  • Oversee caller incentive program and work with the intern to develop strategies for using incentives to motivate callers.
  • Work with Director of Annual Philanthropy to maintain vendor relationships with automation provider.
  • Stay current with new trends related to the calling process and prospect outreach.
  • Assist with student philanthropy activities and events, including Senior Days, Hope Forward popup events, GivingDays, etc.
  • Opportunity for growth new projects related to Student Ambassador & Engagement programs.

Requirements

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree. Well-qualified candidates will have at least:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years work experience; associates or higher degree accepted in lieu of some experience
  • Call center, project management, and data entry experience a plus
  • Demonstrate authenticity and effectiveness in contacts with others
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and commitment to quality in all aspects of work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as analytical and quantitative skills
  • Ability to use discretion and good judgment in working with individuals and confidential information
  • Is driven by goals and demonstrates a proven ability to lead, motivate and manage teams
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and Google Docs
  • Demonstrated ability to operate common computer hardware and other office equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a diverse group of students and constituents
  • Willingness to support the Christian mission of the college

Physical Demands

While performing duties, the employee will occasionally remain in a stationary position, stand, or sit for extended periods; move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments; move about to different worksites; repeat motions that may use wrists, hands, and/or fingers; operate technology, machinery, tools, or controls; communicate with others to exchange information; ascend/descend stairs, ramps, and the like; assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of assigned work; operate motor vehicles. Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  The office is climate controlled.
