About the Position
Summary
Come grow with us! Community Homeworks is seeking a motivated, mission-driven, and energetic full-time (FT) Mission Advancement Specialist to join our team. The position will collaborate with our Deputy Director to manage our grant writing and reporting, annual fundraising campaigns, signature events, and other relevant initiatives throughout the year. Responsibilities include:
• Conduct grant research to identify new funding opportunities, prepare proposals, and manage reporting requirements;
• Develop, expand, and steward the organization’s individual giving programs;
• Recruit, engage, and support campaign cabinet volunteers who represent the community and embody our values to support annual fundraising initiatives;
• Plan, manage, and grow the organization’s signature events, including the Annual Gingerbread House Contest, working collaboratively with other team members;
• Manage the donor database and ensure timely, accurate acknowledgment of contributions;
• Coordinate donor stewardship activities and engagement programming throughout the year; and
• Lead the organization’s marketing efforts, including digital channels (website, e-blasts, social media) and other external communications strategies that reflect the organization’s values, vision, and mission.
Working Conditions
Community Homeworks is located at 810 Bryant Street, in Kalamazoo. This position is expected to be in the office M-F, 9:00 to 5:00.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum three-years professional experience in a marketing or fund development role, preferably with a local non-profit organization.
• Experience using (or willingness to learn) Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, donor database, and project management software.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to regularly multitask.
• Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and steward projects from start to finish, working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
• Proven track record of authentically engaging all members of the community, including those most likely to participate with Community Homeworks in various ways (services, donors, partners).
• Desire to think creatively and implement innovative strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must also have a deep passion and commitment to serving our community. This position requires an individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable households and prevent housing instability for families in our community.
