
Real-life Strategies in Empowering Board Members to Get Involved (webinar)

Based on recent doctoral research at Columbia University and a decade of working with nonprofit boards, this session will explore how board members learn to become impactful leaders in nonprofit organizations, while developing fruitful relationships with peers and staff. The session will start by presenting major findings of this research i.e. motivational factors of board members in seeking a board role and reasons for contributing to the nonprofit; how seasoned board members describe the challenges they face as nonprofit leaders and how they overcome those challenges. We will conclude with effective strategies to empower board members.

Dr. Pazit Levitan
Dr. Pazit Levitan is the Dir. of Development for American Friends of Soroka Medical Center, a medical center in Israel, serving the most diverse population of 1.2 million people. She has been working with boards for over a decade. She has earned four academic degrees in three different countries – BA From The Hebrew University in Israel, MA from Bournemouth Uni in England, MBA from Metropolitan College of New York and a Doctorate in Communication and Education from Columbia University. She lives in Manhattan and raises two teenage boys.
