About the Position
Summary
Under the direction of President of Saint Mary’s Foundation, the Grants and Stewardship Officer will coordinate aspects of the grants program at Trinity Health Grand Rapids (THGR). In partnership with the Grants Manager, this position will work with internal customers and external parties to support the development of funding proposals for gifts and grants from foundations, organizations, corporations, and government entities. This position coordinates internal grants program and restricted fund process of Saint Mary’s Foundation. The position is also responsible for coordinating the production of effective stewardship communications and reports (both annual and ad hoc).

Job Duties
• Supports the annual plan designed by Grants Manager to survey opportunities and capture funding for THGR priorities and needs.
• In partnership with Grants Manager, coordinates aspects of drafting, reviewing and the assembly and submission of proposals and stewardship reports to foundations and other grant-making organizations.
• Tracks calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal deadlines, and reports.
• Coordinates the grants program of Saint Mary’s Foundation including organization of proposals for review by Senior Leadership Team and Saint Mary’s Foundation board committee. This includes annual grants process of Saint Mary’s Foundation as well as grants process for donor-giving groups such as Grand Girlfriends/Guys.
• In partnership with Grants Manager, coordinates an effective process for managing restricted and grant funds including the communication of fund balances, tracking of released fund requests and honoring donor intent. Partners closely with finance and clinical leadership.
• Coordinates the production of effective stewardship communications and reports to donors and funders on an annual basis for endowment funds and ad-hoc basis when determined by President of Saint Mary’s Foundation/team.
• Supports stewardship and donor relations efforts as determined by President of Saint Mary’s Foundation.
• Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of THGR through performing behaviors consistent with the Trinity Health Values.
• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, the
Trinity Health Organizational Integrity Program, including the Standards of Conduct, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behaviors.
• Practices and demonstrates extraordinary stewardship to all donors and volunteers. Provides exceptional customer service while anticipating and exceeding needs of customers.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or related experience with emphasis on writing; preferably in journalism,
communications, marketing, fundraising, public administration, public health, political science, or related field.

Related Experience
Minimum: One year experience in project management, fundraising, grant writing or grant making for a public or private entity, in journalism or communications, or related field.
Preferred: Experience preferred in grant writing, grant making or fundraising for a public or private entity.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must be organized with high attention to details.
• Must be self-directed. Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
• Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience with strong customer relations.
